My feeling to Yangtze river

I was born in Changsha,the capital city of Hunan province,China,which located beside a branch of the Yangtze river. Since I was child, Yangtze river had leave me a lot of impressions. I was told by my parent, the Xiang river(one of the branch of Yangtze in my hometown) flows into the Yangtze river.

Yangtze river is the longest river in China, and the third in the world, after the Nile and Amazon.

Some basic information about the Yangtze River (we call it Changjiang in Chinese):
It is over 6,300 kilometers long, is the largest and longest river in China, and the third-longest in the world, next only to the Nile in northeast Africa and the Amazon in South America. The source of the Yangtze River lies to the west of Geladandong Mountain, the principal peak of the Tanggula Mountain chain in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, southwest of China. She passes by mountains, gorges, hills, plains, with changing scenes on different geographic shape.The river snakes from west to east through provinces of Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui and Jiangsu as well as the city of Shanghai, finally emptying into the East China Sea. With plenty of rainfall all year round, the Yangtze River is named the golden watercourse.

Yangtze river is a very important river both for agriculture and transportation in the history and nowadays. It’s abundent water resource and nutritious elements for grains provided the most fatal necessary for the crops. So , Yangtze is also hailed as the Mother river of China. However, everything has two aspects, every summer,from june to september, when it is the heavy rain period in China, Yangtze river is easily to be out of control because of those water. The water from the upstream including the waters from so many branches will get together and flow to the downstream of Yangtze, therefore, we often meeet flood in the summer time. The flood will destroy the houses,the field,the banks and the dykes, at the meantime,the lives of the local people living along the Yangtze or those people prevent the flood.
