China has a history as long as 5,000 years. Thus China has many ancient cities infused with dense historical atmosphere. At the meantime, China has developed rapidly in the past three decades. So, if you decided to come to China, you will see quite different aspects of China.

Here are some destinations I recommend to you, which are selected as the best worth-going places in China:

Beijing

The capital city of China now.  There are palaces, museums, and monuments to see.  The best attractions are Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, which served as an imperial palace to the Ming and Qing dynasties.  Other tourist sites in Beijing include Beihai Park, the Ming Tombs, the Summer Palace, Marco Polo Bridge, and the ruins of Yuanmingyuan. What is more, you can also visit the Olympic stadium post the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Shanghai

Shanghai is a modern metropolis which offers a variety of tourist attractions.  The listed ones are Nanjing Road, Shanghai Museum, City God temple, what you can never miss is the Bund, especially in the night.

Xian

Xian served as the capital of China for eleven dynasties and as such has a long history.  Visitors to Xian should not miss seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors, a collection of 8,099 life-size terra cotta figures located near the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor.  The terracotta figures were buried with the emperor in after his death. 

Hainan Island

Hainan Island, located off the coast of China, is home to resorts, world class beaches and golf courses.  Hike in the tropical rainforests, visit traditional cultural villages and see artifacts in Hainan Island.

Mt. Huangshan

Huangshan City is destined to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the 21st Century. For the reason of its mighty creation of nature, its more than 2000-year history, and its flourishing Huizhou culture, the city boasts a multitude of tourist attractions. Like the world-famous Mt. Huangshan (Yellow Mountain), the well-preserved ancient villages, crystal Lake Taiping and Qiyun Taoist Mountain etc. Old residences, archways, clan temples, ancient bridges and pagodas are abundant.

Guilin

There is a Chinese saying going that “Guilin’s landscape is second to none”. Indeed the breathtaking beauty of Guilin’s landscape impresses everyone who comes to Guilin. It is the typical karst landform. Hills with strange shape, verdant vegetation, amazing caves and limpid rivers make up the picturesque Guilin.
